TUESDAY'S LESSON PLAN:  01/21/2014:

First chance you get, I want you to look up the word "responsible". Then in your look-up log write out the entire definition. Take your time, write legibly and be sure to write the entire definition.

 SCIENCE:

While we are driving Gramma to court this morning, I want yo to read more about rockets in your library book.

Good Morning Papi,

SOCIAL STUDIES:
In follow-up to the movie we watched on Saturday, Lee Daniels' The Butler, let me jar your memory:

1.  What was the butler's first and last name?

2.  Tell Chuck about the civil rights' movement that the butler's son, Louis, participated in and what
     Louis later became?  (Job)

3.  What group of whites hated blacks and wore white hoods and burned crosses?

4.  What does "segregation" mean?  What does "integration" mean?  Which do you think is right?

5.  What was another name for blacks back in the time of segregation?

6.  What is something noteworthy about the following presidents that the butler served (either from
the movie itself or that you and I talked about)?  And who were the two presidents who left office
      early, and why?

     a.  Dwight  Eisenhower
     b.  John  Kennedy
     c.  Lyndon  Johnson
     d.  Richard  Nixon
     e.  Gerald Ford
     f.  Ronald Reagan
     g.  Jimmy Carter (he was only shown briefly in the movie, but noteworthy is the fact that he was a
peanut farmer from Georgia before being elected president and actually became more popular
after his presidency than during it.  He became a great peace negotiator.

7.  In which war was the butler's second son killed?

8.  You really liked the acting of the actor who played the Butler.  Just to let you know, his name is
      Forest Whittaker.

Thank you for watching the movie with me.
Love, Gramma
